The Danish Home of Chicago residents enjoyed participating in Dania Society’s wonderful Valentine’s Brunch on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Lucille Restaurant at the Drury Lane Theater in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
Almost 70 attendees, including the residents and several staff and board members from The Danish Home, enjoyed the food stations featuring fish, seafood, salad, carved meats, vegetables, made-to-order omelets, pastries, desserts and more. Corsages for the women and elegant centerpieces were made by Bente Rasmussen and Jean Jackson. Heart-shaped red balloons, stuffed animals for the raffle, and table candy were donated by Harvey and Jackie Hoyer. The Danish Home also brought LEGOs, so the children in attendance had a play area.
Special guests at the Dania Society Brunch were Consul General of Denmark in Chicago, Jesper Køks Andersen and his new bride, Johanne Jeudy Andersen, and Gary and Sally Sorensen from the Danish Brotherhood Lodge #14 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Following a devastating fire which destroyed the Danish Brotherhood Lodge #14’s entire building in 2020, Gary told about the Danish Brotherhood’s new, large location at 1300 Sheridan Road, Kenosha, WI 53140. The Danish Brotherhood is holding its official “Dinner and Hall Dedication” on February 23, 2024.
Special thanks to Dania Society of Chicago for hosting such a nice Valentine’s Brunch for the community. Harvey Hoyer says the original idea for holding these Valentine’s parties was the concept of late Dania President and former Danish Home President Knud Eriksen.
