“For the Osuch family, choosing The Danish Home of Chicago for our parents was always our first choice. We have had a lifetime of great experiences there, well before the folks moved in. As children we loved to attend the Summer Fest, the Frikadeller dinner (Fall Fest), and the many lovely events that they hold all year long. Now that the folks are residents, we enjoy the many family get-togethers and the very special LilleJuleaften that brings us all together for the holidays.
Mom and Dad were volunteers for many years, and knew many of the residents as friends before they moved in. From the medical staff to the home administrators, everyone is very professional and attends to all their needs. From the first day that the folks moved into The Danish Home we can honestly say that we have had peace of mind knowing they are safe and well cared for. There are so many events going on daily that they can choose to be as busy as they care to be. Additionally, the grounds are lovely and wonderful for walks. Our families love visiting the folks there as we are always made to feel welcome. I highly recommend The Danish Home to anyone that wants a safe and caring environment for their folks.”

“We could not have found a better home for our mother than The Danish Home. The level of nursing care, attention to detail, and overall cleanliness is truly outstanding…not to mention affordable. With only 30 residents, The Danish Home has an old world kind of European charm and quaintness that could never exist in a larger more commercial senior community. All the meals are made from scratch and with tender loving care, from homemade bread and butter cookies, to smørrebrød sandwiches and a Carlsberg beer. From the front line nursing staff, back office, kitchen, wait staff, and even maintenance men, the players never seem to change. Under the direction of Scott Swanson, it’s obvious they love what they do, and they genuinely feel like family to us. My siblings and I all sleep well knowing how happy and well cared for our mother is at The Danish Home. I couldn’t give a higher recommendation.”

“The Danish Home has been a blessing for my Mom, who is in fact, Danish. After a massive stroke, my Mom still had her mental capacities but lost movement on one side, which required skilled nursing care. While she enjoyed living with us, our home did not provide the social outlet that she was seeking. When we transferred her into The Danish Home, she was immediately made part of a family. She has made so many friends, and the warmth and social aspects of The Danish Home have made this truly feel like a home for her. Some of the other places we looked at felt cold and clinical in comparison.
The Danish Home provides skilled nursing care in a homelike environment, able and friendly staff, excellent cuisine, fun activities, and a diverse group of residents. Other residents that do not require skilled nursing have other options and are equally delighted to live there. My mom has always been welcomed and included in everything, and has made life long friends. This home is a unique gem in Chicago, and it is also wonderful to experience the way that The Danish Home observes wonderful Danish traditions. We also highly recommend the fun festivals that they host that are open to the public.”
