What does the rent start at and what does it include?
Rooted in over a century of caring tradition, The Danish Home offers a warm, boutique setting where personal connections and historic charm come standard. Studio apartments begin at $4,740 per month (before care services).
Monthly rent is fully inclusive, covering three restaurant-style meals daily, all utilities, cable and internet, weekly housekeeping and laundry, routine maintenance, and a vibrant calendar of daily activities and monthly events.
Should you need a level of care, the three tiers begin at $2,080 on top of your room and board.
Are any rooms furnished?
True hygge comes from surrounding yourself with what you love. We leave our apartments unfurnished so you can bring your own cherished furniture and personal touches, creating a space that honors your legacy and feels uniquely like home.
*Skilled Nursing Apartments are fully furnished but can be personalized to individual.
Do you accept Medicaid?
No, as a private pay community, we do not participate in Medicaid. The high quality in our skilled nursing means compassionate, personalized care delivered around the clock. It’s about empowering residents to thrive with optimal comfort, safety, and physical support in surroundings built on trust and respect. Our private suites range from $470 to $525 per day subject to availability.
Do I have to be fully independent to qualify for independent living?
Under our Sheltered Care License, our independent residents get the security they deserve with our 24/7 nursing staff should they need aid in an emergency. There is no requirement to call 911 in an event. All residents receive a call pendant and have additional pull cords in the apartment. Light services can also be added to the room a-la-carte such as medication management.
Are you pet friendly?
Absolutely. In fact, our CEO/Administrator walks his Portuguese Water Dog, Finnigan, in our gardens and brings him a well-deserved slice of bacon from breakfast every day of the week. If you’re considering bringing your furry loved one, we ask that your pet be taken care of by you, is house-broken, and is kept on top of their grooming and vaccinations.
Care & Health Transitions
What care can you provide in an apartment?
The Danish Home offers Sheltered Care—a personalized, supportive model designed to provide all the benefits of traditional assisted living with a higher touch of personal attention. Based on a comprehensive assessment by our clinical team, we offer three tailored care tiers to meet individual needs.
Examples of Available Support (ADLs):
Medication Management: Timely administration and monitoring
Personal Care: Assistance with dressing, bathing, showering, and grooming
Mobility & Safety: Stand-by and one-person transfer assistance, plus escorts to dining and daily community activities
Incontinence & Hygiene: Discrete, dignified support with toileting and care products
How is The Danish Home’s skilled nursing different?
At The Danish Home skilled nursing isn’t a hospital setting. In your healthcare apartment we want you to bring all the comforts from home. That recliner chair you’ve had forever, the quilt your grandmother made when you were a child, the antique side table you found on your honeymoon, the Peace Lily your granddaughter gave you. Our maintenance team will hang art, posters, photographs, travel mementos… It’s your room to personalize.
Your care is personalized too. Within an intimate setting of under 20 beds and a 1:8 nursing ratio, our staff get to know your schedule and preferences to anticipate your needs. Within your home we provide intermediate skilled care meaning no tracheostomies, ventilators, IVs, or dialysis services. We are also entirely private pay and do not accept Medicaid.
Our daily rate includes detail-oriented care, three meals made from scratch (accommodating special diets and dignified assistance with eating if needed), utilities, cable and internet, housekeeping, maintenance, and laundry services weekly or when necessary, furniture/bed linens/towels, and all in-house activities and events.
How is dementia or memory impairment handled?
Although The Danish Home does not operate a licensed memory care unit, our entire nursing team is specifically trained in memory support. Our first-floor layout centers around the nursing station, ensuring residents who benefit from gentle guidance receive frequent, meaningful check-ins throughout the day. Additionally, our Resident Life team actively engages every resident, offering warm encouragement and personalized support so everyone can comfortably enjoy daily activities.
Do you provide short-term rehabilitation?
While The Danish Home does not offer Medicare Part A short-term post-hospital rehabilitation, our residents enjoy convenient access to physical, occupational, and speech-language therapy directly on-site. These outpatient services can be covered under Medicare Part B through our trusted home health partners.
Listen to our Director of Nursing, Michelle, talk about the difference in the video below!
What appointments can I have on-site?
Residents at The Danish Home benefit from seamless access to a wide range of visiting healthcare professionals. Each Thursday, an on-site Nurse Practitioner is available to conduct health assessments, adjust medications, and order lab work or therapy services (Physical, Occupational, and Speech). Additionally, specialized care—including Podiatry, Dermatology, Optometry, and Dentistry—can be arranged within our community as needed.
Please note: Families and residents are responsible for arranging transportation to external medical appointments.
What are your staffing turnovers?
While high turnover is a major challenge across healthcare today, The Danish Home is proud to feature remarkable staff longevity. Low turnover ensures consistent, high-quality care, strong communication, and lasting trust between residents and caregivers. Seeing the same familiar faces every day creates a warm, family-like atmosphere where staff flourish and residents feel truly at home.
