For over 135 years, The Danish Home of Chicago has provided a warm, compassionate sanctuary anchored in Scandinavian traditions. At this year’s Annual Benefit, themed “Rooted in Legacy, Rising to the Future,” we gathered to celebrate our rich heritage while embracing an exciting new chapter in our history.

This past year brought transformative growth as residents and families settled into our beautiful new building and began fully enjoying our expanded patio and gardens. These vibrant outdoor spaces have quickly become the heart of our community—a place for fresh air, quiet reflection, and shared laughter.

None of this would be possible without the visionary leadership and unwavering dedication of our 2026 honoree, Essence Award winner, Paul Pedersen. As a long-standing board member, a pillar of the Danish community, and an exceptional friend of The Danish Home, Paul’s deep commitment to our mission has helped bridge our proud history with a thriving future. His passion, generosity, and personal devotion ensure our residents continue to experience the highest standard of care, comfort, and community.
